Let it snow, let it snow, let it snow....

I have been busy knitting hats and gloves for Chloe and Savannah. Texas yarn just won't be warm enough for Washington State. The first set I did for Savannah is knit with peach and yellow duets DK yarn from A Swell Yarn Shop. It is my favorite shop because she has sets with the contrasting yarn and it is wonder, soft yarn for winter knitting. Check her shop out!

This set is being modeled by 3 yr old Chloe. The pattern is my own....just your basic pattern with an i-cord flower attached with a gold button and embrodered flowers on the back of the mittens. There is also a heart in the palm of one mitten to say "I love you".

I have also been asked what I do with all the swatches I knit. I can't resist knitting yarn as soon as I get it...just to see how it knits and looks. For years, I would cast on a sock but I have so many in progress that this soon meant dozens of WIP. Now I knit a swatch at least 3"X3" and label it with where purchased, cost, needle used, gauge, sock yarn name, dye lot and color. These were strung on an old belt holder until it became full................................................................................................................................. now I have knit enough different yarns to have 'favs'. I hang these on small loops (Trekking shown) and hang the loop by the skeins. The 'project rings' for embrodery work great for this...perfect size (3-4"), cheap, and can be opened to add the new swatches.

The 'master' loop looks pretty bad since the move. Still don't have my yarn stash organized completely. Luckily, I have a walk-in closet I'm not using now and it is full of the moving boxes set up to hold yarn by brand.
I finished another Little Piggies set last night but didn't get a pic before Savannah left for school and today's high is 40*f...low is freezing. Tomorrow, I'll get pic of both Little Piggies sets and add them to the blog.
